Raíces exists to strengthen the Latino filmmaking presence in Dallas while welcoming global stories aligned with themes of identity, resilience, and cultural preservation.
Healing Through Cinema
Many underrepresented communities carry emotions that have been silenced, inherited, or misunderstood — feelings shaped by migration, generational trauma, cultural expectations, and survival. Too often, there are few safe spaces to process these experiences. When pain has no outlet, it can turn into isolation, anger, or disconnection.
Raíces Film Festival exists to offer another path.
Through storytelling and cinema, we create a platform where emotions can be expressed, witnessed, and transformed. Film becomes a tool for reflection. Community becomes a source of support. Conversations become opportunities for understanding.

Winners are announced during our Premier Night Celebration following two days of screenings, workshops and audience engagement.
Community-Driven Selection
On Day 1 — Workshops & Community Showcase — all qualifying films are screened and the audience helps select the top two finalists in each category.
Films are evaluated based on:

- Musical Score
- Casting
Finalists advance to Premier Night, where winners are announced live.

$1,000 cash prize, official festival laurel, featured spotlight across our website and social media, and a filmmaker interview produced by the festival.
🥈 Second Place – Premio Herencia
$300 Cash prize, official laurel, and a featured spotlight across Raíces platforms.
🥉 Third Place – Premio Comunidad
Cash or sponsored creative support prize, official laurel, and recognition during the awards ceremony.
